A TikTok of Vaughn hopping on stage and joining a Bakersfield country sing-a-long has gone viral online, and it looks like the 56-year-old is a well-versed in the sub genre.<\/p>\n
The Bakersfield sound is a type of country music that originated in (you guessed it) Bakersfield, California around the 1950s. It\u2019s known for inspiring the honky tonk sounds and bringing in themes of rock and roll to the country music space. The song \u201cStreets of Bakersfield\u201d that Vaughn can be heard singing is actually a bit of a tribute to the sub genre of country.<\/p>\n
The track was written by Homer Joy and recorded by Buck Owens<\/a> in 1972, but it didn\u2019t get much attention. It was only when Dwight Yoakam<\/a> got Owens to record it with him in the late 1980s that the song really landed with the masses.
