The front-runner to win Nancy Pelosi\u2019s California congressional seat broke his silence<\/a> about a pair of public floggings at the hands of pro-Palestinian agitators.<\/p>\n

State Sen. Scott Wiener claimed he was \u201charassed, threatened, and physically intimidated\u201d on two occasions in San Francisco this week, both of which were captured on camera.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Wiener was seen being hounded by a mob in San Francisco\u2019s Dolores Park before the annual Trans March. X\/@decadimitry<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, a pro-Palestinian activist confronted Wiener at a bar in San Francisco\u2019s Mission District, berating the state senator and repeatedly demanding that he say \u201cFree Palestine.\u201d<\/p>\n

A clip of the encounter showed Wiener, who is Jewish, sitting awkwardly without responding as the man continues to pepper him with accusations. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe screamed abuse at me and our staff before being ejected by the bar\u2019s employees,\u201d Wiener said in a statement Saturday. <\/p>\n

\u201cAfter being ejected, the man remained outside the bar, shouting my name and pounding on the side of the bar near where I was sitting for several minutes. The same individual, in December 2023, stalked me on a plane and in an airport, shouting at me about my \u2018tainted bloodline.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

On Friday, Wiener was seen being hounded by a mob in San Francisco\u2019s Dolores Park before the annual Trans March. <\/p>\n

During that confrontation, a person filming Wiener is initially heard complimenting the candidate, who is gay, on his actions on \u201ctrans issues\u201d before launching into a blistering attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve been terrible, you\u2019ve been\u00a0terrible on Gaza<\/a>,\u201d a person yells. \u201cYou do not belong here anymore, Scott.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the clip continues, activists are seen surrounding Wiener \u2014 with one sticking a middle finger in his face as he avoids engaging with the crowd.<\/p>\n

Wiener said the agitators \u201cbegan harassing me, both verbally and physically, including physical contact\u201d and \u201cmade statements about my \u2018Israeli handlers,\u2019 among many other inaccurate, extreme, and vile statements.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said he took no issue \u201canyone disagreeing with me, opposing me, or protesting me,\u201d but \u201cwhen opposition and disagreement transition to harassment, including cornering me, touching me, or trying to physically bully me out of a public event, that crosses a line.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re living in a time when violence is all too often threatened or used against people in public life,\u201d Wiener added. \u201cIn San Francisco, we\u2019re better than that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The state senator previously stopped short of calling Israel\u2019s actions in Gaza a \u201cgenocide,\u201d but changed course in January after refusing to call out Israel during a debate.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those of you who saw the debate clip from last week, I want to clarify that I do believe Israel has committed genocide in Gaza,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cTo me the Israeli government has tried to destroy Gaza and to push Palestinians out. And that qualifies as genocide.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wiener advanced to the general election for California\u2019s 11th congressional district with 41% of the vote over Pelosi-endorsed candidate Connie Chan, who managed 29%, in the June primary.<\/p>\n
