{"id":380353,"date":"2026-06-30T07:08:15","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T07:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/380353\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T07:08:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T07:08:15","slug":"man-sentenced-25-years-to-life-for-sacramento-rape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/380353\/","title":{"rendered":"Man sentenced 25 years to life for Sacramento rape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"responsive-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/SAC20courts20justice20ruling20conviction20purple20still20chyron20frame.jpeg\"   width=\"1200\" height=\"674\" title=\"\" alt=\"in the courts\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A Sacramento County man who sexually assaulted an international college student was sentenced Friday to 25 years to life in prison, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacda.org\/2026\/06\/defendant-sentenced-for-sexually-assaulting-foreign-college-student\/\">Sacramento District Attorney\u2019s Office announced Monday<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kevin Lemar Davis, 46, was convicted of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/local\/crime\/article315745782.html\">forcible rape by a jury May 12<\/a>. Sacramento Superior Court Judge Ernest Sawtelle sentenced Davis on Friday to 25 years to life in prison under California\u2019s \u201cthree strikes\u201d law. Davis has prior strike convictions for assault with a firearm in 1996 and 2018 and has previously served prison time, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>According to the DA\u2019s Office, Davis encountered the victim \u2014 a college student from Europe studying in the United States \u2014 at a gas station on Nov. 2, 2023. The victim was returning home from a conference by Greyhound bus and Amtrak train after being dropped off at the Greyhound station on Richards Boulevard at 2 a.m. She was trying to locate the Sacramento Valley Station on I Street to catch an Amtrak train home, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n<p>Unfamiliar with Sacramento and without a working cellphone, she went to a gas station and asked the clerk to call a taxi that never arrived. Davis then offered the victim a ride to the Amtrak station.<\/p>\n<p>After she eventually agreed and entered Davis\u2019 vehicle, he drove her to a secluded area by the river, locked her in the vehicle and threatened her, claiming he had guns and would sexually assault her if she did not comply with his demands.
