{"id":381317,"date":"2026-06-30T22:56:21","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T22:56:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/381317\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T22:56:21","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T22:56:21","slug":"rivian-to-open-new-sales-location-on-northgate-boulevard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/381317\/","title":{"rendered":"Rivian to open new sales location on Northgate Boulevard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian plans to open a new sales location on Northgate Boulevard, filling a portion of a Fry\u2019s Electronics store that shuttered five years ago, Councilmember Lisa Kaplan\u2019s office announced Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The 60,000-square-foot site, just off the Northgate Boulevard exit of Interstate 80, will offer sales, test drives, service and delivery, a Rivian spokesperson said in an email.<\/p>\n<p>The Irvine-based company and other newer automakers have fought for years to continue selling cars directly to customers, circumventing the traditional model of franchised dealerships. Leaders have argued that direct sales are more lucrative, and give Rivian more control over how its cars are sold and maintained.<\/p>\n<p>Rivian opened a 480,000-square-foot parts distribution center in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/business\/article312149708.html\">Metro Air Park<\/a> in 2025, and has service centers in West Sacramento and Rocklin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRivian\u2019s decision to expand in District 1 is a tremendous win for Sacramento,\u201d Kaplan said in a statement. \u201cThis investment brings quality jobs, new economic activity, and momentum for District 1 that I and my team are working to build on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The electronics store closed in 2021, per the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/sacramento\/news\/2021\/02\/24\/frys-electronics-shutting-down.html\">Sacramento Business Journal<\/a>.
