Five former Bullard High School students are facing federal charges for firearms trafficking.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The five defendants were arraigned on Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Erin Guy Castillo and pleaded not guilty.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The big picture: Harman Pahal, 21, Cameron Chouanmasay, 20, Colton Malone, 21, Julian Calderon, 20, and Jaskarn Batth, 20, have been indicted on four counts by a federal grand jury for a years-long firearms trafficking conspiracy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They have been charged with conspiracy, unlicensed dealing and manufacturing of firearms, interstate travel with intent to unlawfully deal firearms and unlawful importation of firearms into California.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Driving the news: Federal prosecutors allege that the defendants conspired to deal firearms across state lines and illegally imported firearms into California from December 2024 to April 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They all met while attending Bullard High School and used social media to advertise and sell the firearms. They allegedly traveled from Fresno to Texas repeatedly to obtain more weapons to sell, such as Draco-style AK-type pistols.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What we\u2019re watching: The defendants will return to court for a status conference on Oct. 28.\u00a0<\/p>\n
If convicted, the defendants face a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count of conspiracy to deal unlawful firearms, engaging in the business of dealing firearms without a license and interstate importation of firearms without a license.\u00a0<\/p>\n
