(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 The Kern County Coroner\u2019s Office has identified the driver killed after his vehicle veered off Interstate 5, became airborne, struck a concrete barrier, crashed into another wall, and caught fire as 36-year-old Andrian Ariza Nucup of San Bernardino.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/chp-driver-dies-after-car-goes-airborne-off-i-5-hit-concert-walls-burst-into-flames-kern-county-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">CHP: Driver dies after car goes airborne off I-5, hit concert walls &amp; burst into flames<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The California Highway Patrol said on June 25, 2026, at around 5:05 a.m., officers were called to reports of a solo-vehicle crash on Interstate 5, north of Highway 43.<\/p>\n<p>CHP said a preliminary investigation found that Nucup was driving a 2024 Subaru Impreza northbound on I-5 at an unknown speed.<\/p>\n<p>CHP said for reasons still under investigation, the driver veered into the dirt center median and struck a raised concrete barrier, causing the vehicle to become airborne.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle launched 150 feet, struck another concrete wall, and caught fire, according to CHP.<\/p>\n<p>Nucup died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>CHP said it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
