Christine Braun, whose trailer was burned in the fire, described the situation as overwhelming. “It’s just a nightmare,” Braun said. Witnesses reported seeing bright orange flames and hearing popping sounds as the fire spread. “She said it was like fireworks going off in there. I don’t know,” Braun said. Was it the trailer or was it grass nearby that started the trailer?” Sacramento Fire Capt. Justin Sylvia said. Braun, who had packed up her belongings and was preparing to move, recalled the moment she realized her trailer was engulfed. “I just seen that there was a fire, and I came over here, and the closer I got, I realize it. Oh, my God, that’s where I live,” Braun said. The fire consumed more than just Braun’s trailer, destroying an entire home and a boat. Sylvia said one person reported exhaustion after trying to extinguish the fire with a garden hose. “One person did report that they had some type of exhaustion from running around so much trying to use a garden hose to extinguish a lot of this fire, which we do not recommend,” Sylvia said. The fire department said the cause of the fire remains unknown, though they received reports of firework sounds as the flames were rising.See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app | Subscribe to our morning newsletter | Find us on YouTube here and subscribe to our channel

      SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

A fire on Alamos Avenue in Sacramento destroyed several properties Thursday afternoon, leaving residents devastated as firefighters continue to investigate its cause.

Christine Braun, whose trailer was burned in the fire, described the situation as overwhelming.

“It’s just a nightmare,” Braun said.

Witnesses reported seeing bright orange flames and hearing popping sounds as the fire spread.

“She said it was like fireworks going off in there.
