{"id":383389,"date":"2026-07-02T09:24:15","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T09:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/383389\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T09:24:15","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T09:24:15","slug":"news-12-long-island-38","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/383389\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Long Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A woman has been indicted for a deadly hit-and-run in Atlantic Beach.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Erin Henry, 67, of Long Beach, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a felony charge of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting resulting in death.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\"><a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/longisland.news12.com\/long-beach-woman-arrested-for-fatally-striking-bicyclist-fleeing-the-scene\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">As News 12 reported,<\/a> Henry hit a man who was riding his bike and kept driving, leaving him to die, prosecutors say.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The incident happened on Beech St. on March 24 around 8 a.m. when the school nurse was returning home to get belongings for work that she had forgotten, according to the district attorney\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The victim, Tony Thomas, 59, of Far Rockaway, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cQuick thinking witnesses recorded Henry\u2019s license plate, and she was located by police driving to work as if nothing had happened, callously blaming a fictious boulder for the beloved grandfather\u2019s death when she was pulled over and questioned,\u201d DA Anne Donnelly said.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">She faces up to 2-1\/3 to 7 years in prison if convicted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A woman has been indicted for a deadly hit-and-run in Atlantic Beach.
