Mason Marchment\u2019s\u00a0father, Bryan, spent six seasons playing for the San Jose Sharks near the end of his playing career, before joining the Sharks\u2019\u00a0scouting\u00a0and development staff\u00a0in 2007.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Now, four years after Bryan died\u00a0in 2022, Mason is joining the San Jose Sharks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0pretty crazy. For me,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0just so full circle,\u201d Mason said. \u201cThis is where I really remember my dad playing the most is San Jose.\u00a0There\u2019s\u00a0so many good memories at the rink, and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0special for me and my family, for sure.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He plans to wear his\u00a0dad\u2019s\u00a0No.\u00a027, for the team that he said has always been his favorite.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The\u00a031-year old\u00a0signed a\u00a0five-year, $6.75 million AAV\u00a0contract\u00a0with the San Jose Sharks on the first day of free agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It just worked out, perfect timing. My contract was just\u00a0coming to an end, and their team\u2019s\u00a0just right\u00a0on the rise. The players\u00a0they have, the young\u00a0skill\u00a0guys, and the pieces\u00a0they\u2019ve\u00a0brought in to help them grow, the\u00a0organization\u2019s\u00a0doing such\u00a0a good job.\u00a0So\u00a0feels like such a perfect time for me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On how he can make an impact to get the\u00a0San Jose\u00a0Sharks to the\u00a0playoffs\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n
Just having done it. Last year was actually the first year of my career that I\u2019ve missed the playoffs,\u00a0so\u00a0hoping to not have that happen again. Going to be myself,\u00a0try\u00a0to be a leader and talk in the room,\u00a0bring\u00a0energy. As for the play,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0going to have to go in there and\u00a0just like anyone else,\u00a0earn\u00a0my spot and work for everything that I get.\u00a0So\u00a0bringing\u00a0energy\u00a0and some experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jumbo was my favorite player growing up.\u00a0I got to play with him in Florida, which was\u00a0pretty incredible.\u00a0Now I get to\u00a0maybe link\u00a0it up with him again a couple times, so\u00a0that\u2019ll\u00a0be awesome.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I know quite a bit of the guys on the team, actually, already, so I talked to them a little bit.\u00a0Jumbo was down last week\u00a0playing at\u00a0my course here.\u00a0So\u00a0I got to see him, and\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0awesome, and\u00a0we\u2019ll\u00a0definitely be\u00a0chatting.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I know\u00a0Ty\u00a0Dellandrea really well, we grew up in basically the same town.\u00a0Barclay Goodrow. I knew Timothy Liljegren, but\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0gone, obviously. A couple other handful of guys\u00a0[in]\u00a0just\u00a0passing, played with\u00a0Alexander\u00a0Wennberg,\u00a0bunch\u00a0of guys. I obviously grew up there and been to the facility\u00a0probably more\u00a0than\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0ever been to any rink.\u00a0So\u00a0I\u2019m pretty comfortable.\u00a0They\u2019ve\u00a0changed a few things that I\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0seen, but\u00a0it\u2019ll\u00a0be just like coming home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I was talking to Mikey (Aldrich)\u00a0on the phone this morning. It was just being at the\u00a0rink and\u00a0running around and playing mini sticks.\u00a0He\u2019ll\u00a0tell you I was in the stick room far too much. I was\u00a0always in\u00a0there trying sticks and flexing\u00a0them, and\u00a0asking them if I\u00a0can\u00a0cut them down. Just stuff like that.\u00a0<\/p>\n
