{"id":38398,"date":"2025-11-05T01:11:20","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T01:11:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/38398\/"},"modified":"2025-11-05T01:11:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T01:11:20","slug":"live-election-results-california-prop-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/38398\/","title":{"rendered":"Live Election Results: California Prop. 50"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">LOS ANGELES &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxla.com\/tag\/us\/ca\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">California<\/a> voters could soon decide which party controls the House.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxla.com\/election\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Nov. 4 Special Election<\/a> includes only one measure, Proposition 50, which is a proposal to temporarily redraw California&#8217;s congressional district lines in an effort to create more Democratic seats in the House \u2014 an effort Gov. Gavin Newsom says will offset a similar move in Texas designed to create more Republican seats.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">The outcome of the election could determine which party wins control of the House.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">A Democratic House would threaten President Donald Trump\u2019s agenda for the remainder of his term, while Newsom is widely seen as a likely 2028 presidential contender who would get a publicity boost within his party for spearheading a plan to sidetrack Trump\u2019s conservative playbook.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">&#8220;If we lose this election in California, it means Democrats have virtually no chance of taking back the House,&#8221; Newsom warned in a recent fundraising pitch to supporters.<\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">If approved, it\u2019s possible the new political map could slash five Republican-held House seats while bolstering Democratic incumbents in other battleground districts. That could boost the Democratic margin to 48 of California\u2019s 52 congressional seats, up from the 43 seats the party now holds.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/613D679DAF08D08540DFF3C8693D7852.jpg\" alt=\"California voters decide on Prop 50\" class=\"sr-only\" data-v-7a5d4fdb=\"\"\/>   What a yes vote on Prop. 50 means <\/p>\n<p data-v-6fc2855c=\"\">A yes vote on Prop. 50 would allow California to adopt new congressional district maps starting in 2026.
