It’s a dream,” Stenberg said Thursday. “So, super happy.”

Stenberg, at just over 5-feet-11 and approximately 190 pounds, possesses tremendous passing and playmaking ability, along with elite hockey sense. In Thursday’s prospects scrimmage at Tech CU Arena to end the team’s development camp, Stenberg scored a slick goal, casually sliding a puck past goalie Christian Kirsch while wide open in the slot.

Todd Marchant, the Sharks’ director of player development, said there is “no doubt” that Stenberg is ready for the NHL.

“There’s a curve that each player has to go through,” Marchant said Thursday. “Even going back to Macklin (Celebrini), first part of the year, when he first started, the NHL was a little bit of a learning curve for him, but then he figured it out, and obviously he’s the player that he is today.

“Michael Misa went through it last year, and he came back from the World Juniors, and it was like we took the training wheels off, and all of a sudden he took flight. So I think that every player is going to be a little bit different, but I have no issues that Ivar will eventually figure it out.”

Grier said Thursday morning he wanted to get a deal done with Stenberg: “Hopefully we can maybe get something done here before he heads home.”

Assuming he makes the team out of camp, Stenberg will be one of six players on the Sharks roster playing on an entry-level contract, joining forwards Misa, Celebrini, Will Smith, Igor Chernyshov and defenseman Sam Dickinson. Celebrini has been the Sharks’ leading scorer the last two years, and could have Stenberg on his wing sometime during camp.

“He’s one of the best in the world,” Stenberg said of Celebrini. “Looking forward to seeing him play.”

SAN JOSE — Winger Ivar Stenberg got some important paperwork done before he returned to his native Sweden,…

[29
404,88,90,89,98,127
post-384641","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-san-jose","tag-nhl","tag-san-jose","tag-san-jose-headlines","tag-san-jose-news","tag-san-jose-sharks","tag-sports
["GET
