All of which sent the sellout crowd into jubilant celebrations, some jumping, others breaking out World Cup chants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d manager Dave Roberts said of the team\u2019s ability to turn the game around. \u201cThankfully, it played out the way I didn\u2019t expect, or the way it started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By the time the game ended, Sasaki\u2019s three-inning start seemed like a murky nightmare <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/dodgers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Dodgers<\/a> awoke from in a sweat. Except the Dodgers weren\u2019t dreaming, and the team hadn\u2019t done much to assuage the concerns with Sasaki.<\/p>\n<p>The problem with Sasaki isn\u2019t his stuff. On his best nights, when the velocity and command combine, Sasaki blows past batters with a triple-digit fastball and cutting off-speed pitches. We\u2019re focused on what we\u2019re doing daily on the training ground, because that puts us in the best possible position to to put these performances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo yeah, not aware or even worried about records that we\u2019re breaking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Well, except for maybe one.<\/p>\n<p>With Wednesday\u2019s <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/soccer\/story\/2026-07-01\/u-s-advances-to-round-of-16-with-thrilling-win-over-bosnia-herzegovina\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gritty 2-0 over Bosnia and Herzegovina<\/a>, a game the U.S. finished with just 10 men, the Americans won a game in the World Cup knockout stage for just the second time. Strasburg (11-0) threw 109 pitches, five shy of his season high.
