{"id":386327,"date":"2026-07-04T20:27:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T20:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/386327\/"},"modified":"2026-07-04T20:27:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T20:27:12","slug":"sacramento-eateries-closed-after-cockroach-and-sewage-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/386327\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento eateries closed after cockroach and sewage issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento County Health Inspectors closed two Sacramento-area restaurants after discovering health food violations including a cockroach infestation and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/cue.gcp.misitemgr.com\/cue-web\/#\/main?escenicid=316364173&amp;extra=%7B%22package%22:%22ece-auto-gen-bdc579be-68fe-4358-bdd0-18f9030caadb%22%7D\">overflowing sewage.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, health inspectors cited three eateries for violations including flies, lack of food safety knowledge and improper handwashing.<\/p>\n<p>What do these inspections mean?<\/p>\n<p>While a yellow placard signals two or more major violations, these are typically corrected or mitigated during the inspection, according to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saccounty.gov\/#gsc.tab=0\">Sacramento County Retail Food Inspection Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A red placard, however, signals \u201cimminent danger to public health and safety\u201d and suspends an establishment\u2019s health permit until violations are corrected. This could include, but is not limited to, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/local\/article288124385.html\">major vermin contamination<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, a green placard means a restaurant passed inspection. The county performs about 14,000 inspections annually and about 97% of establishments pass, spokesman Ken Casparis previously told The Sacramento Bee.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 1% of inspections result in a closure, he said. These were the results of Sacramento County food facility inspections for Thursday, June 25, through Wednesday, July 1, as of Thursday, July 2. restaurant, food truck or caf\u00e9 on health violations, they can do so by filing a complaint to the facility\u2019s<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Programs\/CEH\/DFDCS\/CDPH%20Document%20Library\/FDB\/FoodSafetyProgram\/RetailFood\/LocalEHContacts.pdf\"> local environmental health departments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The local health department is responsible for the initial investigation of consumer complaints regarding foods served or sold at retail food facilities, according to the California Department of Public expired California Food Handler cards.Employees lacked food safety knowledge in the following areas: holding temperatures, cooking temperatures, handwashing, glove use, mechanical dish washing and towels inside the restroom and at the warewash area handwash stations.The facility lacked toilet paper inside the restroom.The floor sink beneath the 3-comp sink was draining slowly and observed unclean.The facility\u2019s hot water supply was measured below proper hot water supply.Health inspectors found small flies near the three-compartment sink and floor sink area.<\/p>\n<p>B hands after handling\/cleaning his eyeglasses before food prep.The handwashing sink in the kitchen was blocked with equipment\/cleaning equipment.Tempura shrimp and grilled chicken were held below proper hot holding temperature.An employee in the sushi area didn\u2019t wash their utensils using the correct procedure, he was observed rinsing utensils with water at the front sink.<\/p>\n<p>Yummy
