The investigation into a hit-and-run collision that killed a 6-year-old boy crossing University Avenue near City Heights in late October remains underway, San Diego police said.<\/p>\n

The child has been identified as Lucas Chery Louis.<\/p>\n

Lucas was crossing University mid-block just east of 54th Street around 6:50 p.m. Oct. 25 when he was struck, police said. The driver was heading west on University.<\/p>\n

Lucas was rushed to a hospital, where he later died.<\/p>\n

The driver did not stop, and the vehicle was last seen heading north on 54th Street. Police have not released a description of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Police spokesperson Lt. Travis Easter said the investigation is continuing, \u201cand investigators are following up on every lead they can get.\u201d<\/p>\n

CBS 8 reported<\/a> that Lucas had been with an adult, walking home from a market across the street from his apartment. The station said the pair were in the median when a vehicle in the lane nearest to the median stopped to allow them to cross, but that after Lucas passed the stopped truck, he was struck by a vehicle in the next lane.<\/p>\n
