The grant will fund the full reconstruction of Taxiway F.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInvestments like this keep Long Beach moving. Reconstructing Taxiway F strengthens the infrastructure that supports one of the nation\u2019s premier airports, protects the travel experience residents and visitors have come to expect, and positions our airport for continued growth,\u201d Mayor Rex Richardson said in a public statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will reconstruct 4,200 feet of existing Taxiway F pavement that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.padilla.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/padilla-schiff-announce-107-million-to-modernize-california-airports\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201chas reached the end of its useful life<\/a>,\u201d according to a July 2 press release from U.S. Senator Alex Padilla.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/LGB_Airport-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81160\"  \/>Passengers wait for their flights near the Southwest Airlines gate inside the Long Beach Airport concourse on March 22, 2022. Grant | Signal Tribune)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sixteen California airports, including Long Beach, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.padilla.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/padilla-schiff-announce-107-million-to-modernize-california-airports\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">will receive a total of $107 million to modernize airport infrastructure, improve safety and strengthen the state\u2019s aviation system.<\/a> Funding focuses on noise mitigation, runway and taxiway rehabilitation and other critical infrastructure improvements.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long Beach is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.padilla.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/padilla-schiff-announce-107-million-to-modernize-california-airports\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">second-largest recipient of airport infrastructure funding<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.padilla.senate.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/padilla-schiff-announce-107-million-to-modernize-california-airports\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">one of two cities to receive over $20 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis $27 million is going straight to the infrastructure that keeps Long Beach Airport running,\u201d Garcia said in a public statement. \u201cAs the former Mayor of Long Beach, improving this airport has always been important to me.
