Residents interested in running for City Council or PUSD Board of Education can pick up\u00a0nomination documents with the City Clerk by appointment starting Monday, July 13.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On November 3, Piedmont voters will elect candidates to fill two seats on the City Council and\u00a0three on Board of Education. Councilmembers Jennifer Long and Tom Ramsey and Board of\u00a0Education members Ruchi Medhekar and Lindsay Thomasson are eligible to run for a second term, while Mayor Betsy Andersen is termed out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The nomination process can be complicated and filing deadlines are strict, so interested\u00a0residents should get started as soon as possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n

1. Make an appointment to get your candidate documents: Contact the City Clerk\u2019s office\u00a0at (510) 420-3040 or CityClerk@piedmont.ca.gov to schedule your appointment. At your\u00a0appointment, the City Clerk will walk you through the nomination process, reviewing\u00a0 documents, deadlines, and rules. Plan to spend 30-60 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
2. Review the basics of the process online: Prepare for your appointment by reviewing\u00a0information about running for office on the City website. This will give you an idea of\u00a0what to expect and an opportunity to identify questions you want to ask during your\u00a0appointment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
3. File your nomination documents by August 7. Nomination documents must be filed in\u00a0person at the City Clerk\u2019s office. It\u2019s a good idea to file documents early so you have\u00a0time to correct any issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A list of people who have pulled or filed nomination papers will be available at piedmont.ca.gov\/vote2026. City Council and Board of Education are volunteer positions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
