\n\tSloan was released from state prison on June 9 and placed in hospice care. He died June 12. Detectives were able to question him in his final hours. Reporter Heather Catallo did not report where police interviewed him or what information he may have shared.<\/p>\n
\n\tAt least four children were abducted along the Woodward corridor and killed in 1976-77 in what became known as the Oakland County child killings. They were: Mark Douglas Stebbins, 12, of Ferndale; Kristine Mihelich, 10, of Berkley; Jill Robinson, 12, of Royal Oak; and Timothy John King, 11, of Birmingham. There were at least three other suspected murders.<\/p>\n
\n\tNo one was ever charged in the case.<\/p>\n
\n\tSloan had been imprisoned since 1984 after pleading guilty to raping a 10-year-old boy inside his camper in Detroit. That case ended a 14-year stretch of arrests and convictions for various sex crimes involving minors in Pennsylvania and Michigan, WXYZ reports.<\/p>\n
\n\tIn 1976, his disturbing criminal history involving children prompted his parole officer to suggest that Southfield police investigate any connection between Sloan and the body of Mark Douglas Stebbins, which was found about seven miles from Sloan’s home.<\/p>\n
\n\tPolice searched his 1966 Pontiac Bonneville, and decades later were able to determine that hairs collected during the search were linked to the murders of two boys. Still, authorities said the hairs found in the car and on the bodies of the boys did not belong to Sloan.<\/p>\n
\n\tCatallo reports that Sloan was given a polygraph in recent years about the murder of Timothy King and failed it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Arch Sloan, 84 (DOC photo)
