(FOX26) \u2014 Six people were displaced on Monday after an apartment fire near Fresno State.<\/p>\n<p>The Fresno Fire Department says firefighters rushed to an apartment complex near Fresno State shortly after 12:45 a.m. on Monday after multiple callers reported a fire.<\/p>\n<p>The apartment complex fire was near N Maple and Shaw Avenues in Fresno.<\/p>\n<p>The first arriving engine company found smoke and flames coming from a first-floor apartment in a two-story, eight-unit building.<\/p>\n<p>[RELATED] <a href=\"https:\/\/kmph.com\/news\/local\/large-portion-of-blackstone-ave-blocked-off-near-river-park-shopping-center-blackstone-avenue-fresno-police-department-villaggio-shopping-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Two passengers shot while driving down Blackstone Ave near River Park<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fire had already extended to the second floor.<\/p>\n<p>Reports were unclear about whether anyone was still inside.<\/p>\n<p>Crews requested a second alarm and immediately began rescue and fire attack operations.<\/p>\n<p>Firefighters searched the involved apartments and confirmed no one was trapped.<\/p>\n<p>Crews then worked to contain the fire and stop it from spreading further through the building.<\/p>\n<p>Three of the building\u2019s eight apartment units were damaged, displacing six people. <\/p>\n<p>In all, 45 firefighters responded.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire remains under investigation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"FRESNO, Calif.
