The annual outreach provides free new shoes, backpacks, and school supplies to children in the community before classes begin.

Pastor Edward Thomas said, that what began with just 50 pairs of shoes at the first event has grown into an outreach that now provides hundreds of new pairs of shoes to local students each year.

To make that possible again this year, Impact Church is asking the community for donations and sponsorships. Church leaders are seeking new shoes, as well as backpacks, school supplies, socks, and monetary donations to help meet the needs of local families.

Supporters can also contribute by purchasing the official Kick It Outreach 8 “Step Into Greatness” T-shirt. Proceeds from shirt sales help fund the outreach and provide additional back-to-school essentials for children in need. Shirts can be ordered by sending a direct message to @impact_fresno on Instagram.

Donations can be dropped off at Impact Church, 1441 E. Chestnut Ave., on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m.

The community giveaway is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 1, at 9 a.m. at Cary Park, 4750 N. Fresno St. Families will receive free shoes, backpacks, school supplies, food, community resources and more while supplies last. Shoes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, and organizers encourage families to arrive early.

Over the past eight years, Kick It Outreach has helped ease the financial burden of back-to-school shopping while ensuring local students have the supplies they need for a successful school year.

Community members interested in donating or learning more can visit Impact Church or follow @impact_fresno on Instagram or Facebook for additional information and updates.
