Rob Reiner has earned a posthumous Emmy Award nomination for his guest role in \u201cThe Bear\u201d Season 4.<\/p>\n
This marks Reiner\u2019s first award nomination since his death in December<\/a> and his first performance-related Emmy nom since 1978, when he won for supporting actor in a comedy series for \u201cAll in the Family.\u201d <\/p>\n He last received Emmy nominations in 2024 for directing and producing \u201cAlbert Brooks: Defending My Life.\u201d <\/p>\n In FX\u2019s \u201cThe Bear,\u201d Reiner played pragmatic restaurant consultant Albert Schnurr, who mentored line cook Ebra (Edwin Lee Gibson) as part of a three-episode arc in the series\u2019 fourth season. In its series finale<\/a> in late June, the show paid tribute to Reiner with a line of dialogue referencing his 1987 classic \u201cThe Princess Bride.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAll those days that Rob and I spent together were a lot of fun,\u201d Gibson told the London Evening Standard<\/a> in June. \u201cI\u2019m really happy that it looks like, \u2018Oh, they must have spent so much time,\u2019 when in actuality we just had such a great chemistry immediately.<\/p>\n \u201cI got to be his last scene partner, unfortunately … but it was just really, really great moments with someone that you grew up watching in front of the camera, then behind the camera.\u201d<\/p>\n Reiner was last seen onscreen in Larry David\u2019s historical HBO sketch comedy series \u201cLife, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness,\u201d portraying George Washington in a pointed diss against President Trump. The episode aired July 3.<\/p>\n In addition to his acting roles, Reiner was best known for directing Hollywood classics such as \u201cStand by Me,\u201d \u201cThe Princess Bride\u201d and \u201cWhen Harry Met Sally…\u201d He and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, an accomplished photographer, were also well-established political activists and Trump critics.<\/p>\n Reiner<\/a> and Michelle<\/a> were killed in their home in Los Angeles on Dec. 14. Their son, Nick, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and pleaded<\/a> not guilty in February.<\/p>\n
