(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A one-armed driver accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/bpd-investigating-crash-in-sw-bakersfield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">killing a Bakersfield grandmother in a DUI crash in April 2023<\/a> has been sentenced to at least six years in prison, according to Kern County court records.<\/p>\n<p>Karim Reyad was sentenced on Thursday, July 9.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/18-year-old-bakersfield-man-arrested-in-connection-to-fatal-head-on-crash\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">RELATED: 18-year-old Bakersfield man arrested in connection to crash that killed mother<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"(KBAK\/FOX58)\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/3bd35f21-6dda-4f85-9fcf-f3ac7ea041f9-large16x9_thumb_117287.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Investigators said Reyad, 18 at the time, drove under the influence near Campus Park Drive and Spring Gate Drive on April 18, 2023. <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/newsletter-daily\/66-year-old-woman-killed-in-southwest-bakersfield-head-on-crash-identified\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gayle Sue Price, 66, of Bakersfie<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/newsletter-daily\/66-year-old-woman-killed-in-southwest-bakersfield-head-on-crash-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ld<\/a>, was killed in the collision.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in the 10700 block of Campus Park Drive Tuesday evening. PHOTO: KBAK\/KBFX<\/p>\n<p>Bakersfield police said two men were in the other vehicle, including Reyad, and both suffered moderate injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents show Reyad had previous run-ins with the law, including misdemeanor cases involving vandalism, taking a vehicle without consent, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Reyad was also arrested earlier in the same week as the fatal collision that killed Gayla Sue Price.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
