NOVI, Mich. \u2013 As the holiday season approaches, high school students are working to make sure kids in Oakland and Wayne counties have their stockings stuffed this Christmas.<\/p>\n

Last December, Local 4 honored Detroit Catholic Central student Ryan Dye for his stocking drive alongside Ava Guntzviller. The mission was always to bring holiday joy to foster children in Oakland County.<\/p>\n

This year, Dye has teamed up with fellow student Cam Swearingen to continue the tradition, but they\u2019ve also expanded to work directly with Wayne County.<\/p>\n

Dye\u2019s goal for 2025 is to assemble 300 stockings — 50 each for boys 2-6, girls 2-6, boys 7-12, girls 7-12, boys 13-17, and girls 13-17.<\/p>\n

His project will also be part of Detroit Catholic Central\u2019s GDK Service Day, where students help put the stockings together and prepare them for delivery.<\/p>\n

Donations are due by Nov. 21, 2025, so that the students have time to assemble and deliver the stockings before Christmas.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019d like to donate specific items, the students have created a specific wish list on Amazon.<\/p>\n

The items bought from that list will ship directly to the organizers.<\/p>\n

If you prefer to make a monetary donation, you can send a Venmo to Dye directly at @ryan23dye. He said those donations will be used to buy additional stocking items and gift cards for the children.<\/p>\n
