{"id":394475,"date":"2026-07-11T06:00:34","date_gmt":"2026-07-11T06:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/394475\/"},"modified":"2026-07-11T06:00:34","modified_gmt":"2026-07-11T06:00:34","slug":"sacramento-police-issue-31-citations-during-four-hour-pedestrian-safety-operation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/394475\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento Police issue 31 citations during four-hour pedestrian safety operation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofsacramento.gov\/police\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sacramento Police Department<\/a> issued 31 citations during a recent traffic safety operation focused on protecting people walking and biking in some of the city\u2019s busiest corridors.<\/p>\n<p>During the four-hour enforcement <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SacPolice\/status\/2072896498246058290\" rel=\"nofollow\">effort on July 2,<\/a> officers conducted 38 traffic stops at J Street and 17th Street, J Street and 24th Street, and L Street and 13th Street.<\/p>\n<p>Officers issued:<\/p>\n<p>26 citations for crosswalk-related violations<br \/>\nFive citations for other traffic violations<\/p>\n<p>The operation focused on the most dangerous driving behaviors that put pedestrians and bicyclists at risk, including failing to yield the right of way, speeding, illegal turns and other violations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all have places to be and not everyone gets there by car,\u201d Sgt. Anna Mahoney said. \u201cBicyclists and pedestrians have the same rights to the road but face even more risk without the protections vehicles have.
