He remains a trigger-happy hitter who swings the bat often, and he swung more than 50% of the time against all pitch types except curveballs\u2014which he obliterated when he did swing, with a 1.738 OPS against them. Contrades has spent time at second base and third base in college, and he\u2019s a solid runner who has always been an efficient basestealer, going 31-for-35 (89%) on the bases throughout his career.\u201d

In the past, Contrades has shown plus run times, though the hamstring issue slowed him down a bit this spring, and he should settle in as an above-average runner. He\u2019s played third for the Sun Devils in the past but has settled in as a second baseman, probably his best spot should he develop into a regular at one position, with an average glove and arm. His positional limitation and the fact he\u2019s a 22-year-old redshirt junior are the two things that limit his helium.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nRanked No. 239 by Baseball America: \u201cTiroly put on a hitting clinic for two seasons with Rider, where he slashed .335\/.453\/.648 with 28 home runs in 100 games. He had high expectations after transferring to Virginia for the 2026 season, because of those performance numbers and his excellent under-the-hood batted-ball data. Tiroly played second base and hit in the middle of Virginia\u2019s lineup, with a .319\/.408\/.576 slash line and 16 home runs in 60 games. He\u2019s a 6-foot, 200-pound righthanded hitter with an aggressive, pull-heavy approach and solid contact skills, but no loud carrying tools. Despite homering at least 10 times in all three college seasons, scouts are skeptical of the impact he\u2019ll be able to create with a wood bat. He\u2019s a fringy runner who shouldn\u2019t be much of a basestealing threat, but should be able to make most of the routine plays defensively at second base.\u201d
\nRanked No. 147 by MLB.com: \u201cTiroly spent his first two years of college ball at Rider University in New Jersey, earning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as a sophomore. He entered the transfer portal and landed at Virginia, but a foot injury suffered at the end of the fall kept him from showing the Cavaliers or scouts checking him out in his new environment for the first time what he could do. A lack of prep time because of the injury, as well as not being 100 percent to start the spring led to a very slow start, but he was growing on evaluators as he heated up in ACC play. After having so much success in the MAAC, it was unclear how Tiroly would perform against a higher level of competition in a top conference. The right-handed hitter literally couldn\u2019t put his best foot forward, not facing live pitching until opening weekend and wearing a boot between games. As he put the injury behind him, he started showing off a much better feel to hit, with more pop in conference play, answering that question about his ability to handle ACC pitching. Tiroly wasn\u2019t a runner before the injury, so that part of his game wasn\u2019t impacted in any real way. He\u2019s a capable defender at both second and third, with enough arm for the hot corner. Some feel that might be his better position because of a lack of overall range, though playing third would put more pressure on him to keep showing an impact bat at the plate.\u201d<\/p>\n
