France\u2019s national holiday, called Bastille Day, is celebrated every July 14. While San Francisco is thousands of miles from France, it is one of many cities around the world that celebrate the holiday. The holiday falls on Tuesday, but the following Saturday, San Franciscans can head to a free celebration with food, drinks, and games. Keep reading for all the details. <\/p>\n
Embarcadero Bastille Day Celebration <\/p>\n
On Saturday, July 18, the Embarcadero Plaza is hosting a free festival to celebrate Bastille Day. The celebration will run from 11 am to 6 pm on Saturday, featuring food, activities, and performers. The free party will have a bar serving wine and beer, along with various food vendors. <\/p>\n
Along with the various food vendors, you can expect a series of performances from bands and dancers throughout the day. Some of the performers include an accordionist, face painting, and more. Plus, there will be P\u00e9tanque games taking place from 11 am to 3 pm on the Bocce Ball courts. Finally, look out for the waiter\u2019s race at 3:15 pm. San Francisco City Guides will also offer free walking tours during the festival, exploring the historic relationship and similarities between San Francisco and Paris. <\/p>\n
Earlier in the week, another free Bastille Day celebration will take place in Downtown, called Bastille on Belden<\/a>. The popular party occupies a charming alley in the Financial District, featuring music, food, and roaming mimes. While you\u2019re in the area, we recommend heading to the Ferry Building to explore the many vendors in the bustling marketplace.
