(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 The Bakersfield Police Department said the department has seen an \u201calarming rise\u201d in serious injury and fatal traffic crashes.<\/p>\n<p>Bakersfield police said in June alone, there were nine fatal traffic crashes, bringing the total to 25 fatal traffic collisions so far this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn response, our Traffic Unit conducted targeted enforcement operations in areas identified through crash data and a high volume of traffic violations,\u201d said in a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/3479609028872535\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> social media post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over the course of two days, officers issued 114 citations.<\/p>\n<p>The department is reminding drivers to please slow down, stay alert, watch for pedestrians, and always keep your eyes on the road.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
