If you don\u2019t want to head to the public pool, there are lakes, natural pools and the river where you can take a refreshing dip.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what to know:<\/p>\n<p>Best places to go swimming in the Sacramento area that aren\u2019t a public pool<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are looking to float along with the current or just chill in a lake, the Sacramento area has plenty to offer.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.visitplacer.com\/discover\/clarks-hole-trail\/\">Auburn Swim Hole on the American River<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you are looking to combine a short hike in order to reach a beautiful swimming hole, then<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.visitplacer.com\/discover\/clarks-hole-trail\/\"> Clarks Hole is the place<\/a> for you. This easy to moderate hike is 1.2 miles round trip and takes 20 minutes to reach. The trail passes a small waterfall on the left, and crosses a small stream, according to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.visitplacer.com\/\">Visit Placer website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The swimming hole can be reached by taking Highway 49 south to Old Foresthill Road at the bottom of the canyon. Continue straight for 1\/4 mile and park on the left to reach the trailhead.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.parks.ca.gov\/?page_id=10916\">Beals Point<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Beals Point has shaded areas, barbecue pits and large grassy areas for picnics and other outdoor activities. The area provides access to Folsom Lake and can be reached at 9900 Auburn Folsom Road in Granite Bay.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/dbw.parks.ca.gov\/BoatingFacilities\/f\/1189\">Black Miners Bar<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Black Miners Bar is a dog-friendly, day-use area for families and individuals. It includes picnic areas, restrooms and access to Lake Natoma. It can be reached via Greenback Lane in Folsom.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.parks.ca.gov\/?page_id=487\">Brannan Island State Recreation Area<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Located near the eastern end of the maze of rivers and sloughs that make up the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. The area provides opportunities for birding, swimming, boating and fishing.<\/p>\n<p>The park is located at 17645 CA-160 at Rio Vista.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/arpf.org\/visit\/\">El Manto River Access<\/a><\/p>\n<p>El Manto is located off the American River Parkway and offers visitors a chance to enjoy a nice day trip, picnic or refreshing swim with the current. The area also has bike trail access for those who want to follow the river\u2019s trail. The El Manto Access is at 2050 El Manto Dr., Rancho Cordova.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofsacramento.gov\/ypce\/parks\/park-directory\/g-h\/garcia-bend-park\">Garcia Bend Park<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Garcia Bend Park is a 17.87 acre park with access to the Sacramento River. The area includes a boat ramp, boat trailer parking, life trail stations and off-street parking. The area has a sandy beach, buoyed swim area and lifeguard services to make swimming safe and enjoyable for all. Granite Bay can be reached at 7806 Auburn-Folsom Road Folsom Lake.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mapquest.com\/us\/california\/happy-valley-swimming-hole-468857112\">Happy Valley Swimming Hole<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Take the time to visit Happy Valley Swimming Hole in Somerset. The swimming hole can be reached from 6432 Happy Valley Road.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fs.usda.gov\/r05\/tahoe\/recreation\/oregon-creek-day-use-area\">Oregon Creek Day Use Area<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oregon Creek is a popular spot at the confluence of the Middle Fork of the Yuba River and Oregon Creek. This area has limited parking, but can be found on Highway 49 and Middle Yuba River, 3 miles south of Camptonville.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/paradise-beach-sacramento?osq=Swimming+Holes\">Paradise Beach<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Located near Sacramento\u2019s River Park, Paradise Beach offers a chance to enjoy the American River with beach access, nature trails and swimming pools.<\/p>\n<p>The beach is located at 5211 Carlson Drive in East Sacramento.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/regionalparks.saccounty.gov\/us\/en\/parks\/american-river-parkway\/river-bend-park.html#gsc.tab=0\">River Bend Park<\/a><\/p>\n<p>River Bend Park is one of Sacramento\u2019s oldest county parks, according to the county\u2019s regional park website. Guests can see local wildlife including wild turkeys and deer. The area provides group picnic sites, walking and bicycle trails and horse trails.  Take U.S. Highway 50 via the Bradshaw Road off ramp and turn right at Folsom Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/arpf.org\/visit\/\">Sacramento Bar Park<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Sacramento Bar Park gives visitors access to the American River and is a popular put-in spot for rafters and kayakers. There are places to picnic and bike trail access is available.<\/p>\n<p>The park can be accessed via 3936 Pennsylvania Avenue in Fair Oaks.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofsacramento.gov\/ypce\/parks\/park-directory\/s-t\/sand-cove-park\">Sand Cove Park<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sand Cove Park is a 9.88 acre park that includes Sacramento River access, a beach, a nature area and off-street parking. The park is at 2005 Garden Highway in South Natomas.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.parks.ca.gov\/?page_id=496\">South Yuba State Park<\/a><\/p>\n<p>South Yuba River State Park is located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and includes stunning scenery, swimming, bird watching, panning for gold and hiking. Its location is 17660 Pleasant Valley Road in Penn Valley.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/sutters-landing-river-access-sacramento\">Sutter\u2019s Landing Beach<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sutter\u2019s Landing Beach is a 204.28 acre park that includes basketball courts, bocce ball courts, a dog park, restrooms, parking lots and picnic area. It has access to the American River.
