PG&E is warning that proactive power shutoffs are likely in multiple counties in the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast on Wednesday and Thursday because of a forecast of hot, dry and windy weather in the region.<\/p>\n

The utility implements what it calls Public Safety Power Shutoffs to power down equipment in areas where there are weather conditions that could spark wildfires. PG&E said for Wednesday and Thursday, shutoffs are likely in 10 counties, including Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey and San Joaquin.<\/p>\n

According to the National Weather Service, there are elevated fire weather concerns through Thursday because of above-normal temperatures, low humidity levels and gusty winds.<\/p>\n

People can enter their address here<\/a> to see if it is in an area that could have power shutoffs. PG&E officials were not immediately available to provide more details about the potential shutoffs.<\/p>\n

According to Monterey County spokesperson Maia Carroll, the shutoffs could affect the southern part of the county and part of Carmel Valley between Wednesday morning and Thursday evening.<\/p>\n
