The San Jose Sharks have placed defensemen Jack Thompson and Lucas Carlsson on waivers.<\/p>\n
Lucas Carlsson & Jack Thompson (both SJ) on waivers today\u2014 Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) October 12, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Both Thompson and Carlsson were dealing with lower-body injuries<\/a> for the San Jose Sharks, but are now considered healthy with this move.<\/p>\n Top prospect Sam Dickinson<\/a> benefited from Thompson\u2019s injury, allowing him to make the opening night roster. There is potential that Thompson will be claimed by another NHL team, given his age and potential.<\/p>\n At 23 years old, Thompson has flashed an above-average ability to play as a puck-moving defenseman. He would play top minutes for the Barracuda, who opened their season with a 7-6 win over the Bakersfield Condors.<\/p>\n Carlsson, 28, might not pose as high a risk to be claimed as Thompson. The Sharks recalled Carlsson for 13 games in 24-25, where he showcased a solid two-way style of play. <\/p>\n In 13 games for the San Jose Sharks, Carlsson had a goal and three assists. It was his first NHL action since he tore his ACL<\/a>.
