LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The 18-year-old suspect wanted for murder in last month’s shooting of a Las Vegas store employee has been arrested in Southern California.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said David Vasquez, 19, was taken into custody by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on Monday, July 13.

He is being held at a detention facility in Barstow and awaiting extradition to Las Vegas.

LVMPD had obtained a warrant to arrest Vasquez for allegedly killing 31-year-old Brandan Lucas at the Five Below near Rainbow and Lake Mead boulevards on Wednesday, June 17.

Lucas was working at the store that afternoon when a man confronted him, employees and other customers told police.

They argued and then got into a fight, during which Lucas was shot. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, and an autopsy determined he was shot three times.

Another store employee told police that the day before, Lucas had sent her “flirtatious” text messages, which made her uncomfortable, according to the warrant for Vasquez. The girlfriend said she shared the messages with Vasquez, her boyfriend, who became upset.

Vasquez was arrested at an address in Barstow and is being held without bail, according to San Bernardino County jail records. His first court appearance in California is scheduled for July 15.

It’s unclear when he could be transported to Las Vegas to face the charges from his warrant.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The 18-year-old suspect wanted for murder in last month’s shooting of a Las Vegas…

[6
7,9,8
post-399059","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-california","tag-california","tag-california-headlines","tag-california-news
["GET
