A standoff between police and a woman who allegedly threatened a family member with a knife ended peacefully Tuesday afternoon after crisis negotiators spent more than two hours talking with the individual.

Santa Barbara police officers responded around 3 p.m. to a home in the 700 block of California Street for a reported argument between two family members, according to a department press release.

When officers arrived, they learned one individual had threatened the other family member and was in possession of a folding knife. The threatened family member fled the home in fear and contacted police.

Officers attempted to make contact with the individual in the backyard of the residence, but she did not respond to commands. Because it was unclear whether she was still armed, officers established a safety perimeter around the property while continuing attempts to communicate with her.

The Santa Barbara Police Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene and worked with the individual, ultimately achieving a peaceful resolution. The incident lasted approximately two and a half hours.

Police identified the individual as Corina Saddler Campbell, 48, of Santa Barbara. She was booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail on several felony offenses.

A standoff between police and a woman who allegedly threatened a family member with a knife ended peacefully…

[6
7,9,8
post-399818","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-california","tag-california","tag-california-headlines","tag-california-news
["GET
