FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — The man shot by a deputy in Fresno County Tuesday night has been identified as 24-year-old Juwan Priddie of Santa Maria, CA.<\/p>\n
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was called to a home near Olive and Cornelia avenues around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a reported home invasion.<\/p>\n
When the deputy arrived, the suspect had already left the residence.<\/p>\n
Those living at the home described him as driving a white van with a rooftop ladder rack.<\/p>\n
About 19 minutes later, another call came in for a similar incident at a home off Garfield and Shields avenues, near Roosevelt Elementary. Deputies say the suspect matched the description of the man from the first incident.<\/p>\n
According to the sheriff’s office, he threatened to kill those living in the second home.<\/p>\n
When the deputy arrived at the second home, the suspect allegedly started to fight with the deputy.<\/p>\n
Fearing for his life, the deputy pulled out his weapon and fired three shots at the suspect, striking him at least once.<\/p>\n
Additional deputies arrived at the scene minutes later and provided aid to the injured man, who is now identified as Priddie.<\/p>\n
He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with severe injuries and underwent surgery.<\/p>\n
The deputy was also taken to the hospital with some bruises and scrapes.<\/p>\n
Priddie remains in the hospital but has been booked into jail with bail set at $100,000.<\/p>\n
He faces multiple charges, including attempted burglary, resisting arrest with violence, battery on a police officer and making death threats.<\/p>\n
