{"id":400810,"date":"2026-07-16T14:53:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T14:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/400810\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T14:53:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T14:53:24","slug":"explore-railyards-sacramento-valley-station-projects-at-july-22-open-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/400810\/","title":{"rendered":"Explore Railyards, Sacramento Valley Station projects at July 22 open house"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Learn about the projects transforming Sacramento\u2019s historic Railyards during a free community open house Wednesday, July 22, from 5\u20137 p.m. at the North Plaza at Sacramento Valley Station (401 I St.).<\/p>\n<p>The event marks two milestones for the district: the 20th anniversary of the landmark acquisition that launched the modern redevelopment of the <a href=\"https:\/\/railyards.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Railyards<\/a> and the 100th anniversary of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofsacramento.gov\/public-works\/sacramento-valley-station\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sacramento Valley Station<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once the center of the region\u2019s rail industry, the <a href=\"https:\/\/sacramentocityexpress.com\/2025\/06\/13\/sacramento-city-council-vote-unlocks-next-phase-of-railyards-development\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Railyards<\/a> is now one of the nation\u2019s largest urban infill redevelopment projects.<\/p>\n<p>Sacramento Valley Station, which opened in 1926, has served as the region\u2019s primary passenger rail station for a century and remains one of the busiest passenger rail stations on the West Coast. The City acquired the <a href=\"https:\/\/sacramentocityexpress.com\/2016\/02\/26\/city-celebrates-sacramento-valley-station-90th-anniversary\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">historic station<\/a> in 2006 and <a href=\"https:\/\/sacramentocityexpress.com\/2017\/02\/23\/hundreds-turn-out-today-to-celebrate-and-tour-the-91-year-old-station-now-restored-to-its-original-glory\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">completed<\/a> a major rehabilitation project in 2017 that preserved its historic character while modernizing the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Sacramento Valley Station serves as the gateway to the Railyards, where projects planned or underway include transportation improvements, housing, commercial development, entertainment venues and public spaces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Railyards have long been an important part of Sacramento\u2019s history, and today\u2019s investments are helping shape their next chapter,\u201d said City Senior Development Project Manager Marco Gonzalez. \u201cThis open house is an opportunity for the community to learn about the projects underway, celebrate the district\u2019s transformation and see how this public-private partnership will benefit residents, workers and visitors for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the open house, community members can meet with representatives from the organizations leading projects throughout the district, ask questions and learn about current and future projects. Information stations will include:<\/p>\n<p>Food and refreshments will be provided.<\/p>\n<p>Community members are encouraged to take <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sacrt.com\/schedules\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SacRT<\/a> Gold Line light rail and SacRT bus routes 30 or 38 to the event.
