(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 At least one person was swept away in the Kern River near Hart Park on Thursday evening, according to an eyewitness.<\/p>\n<p>Kern County search and rescue personnel were seen searching in the area of River and Bison roads for a person in the river, and Kern County deputies were also in the area just before 6 p.m. An Eyewitness News crew captured footage of the response.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"365\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/23df4c34-dc07-4693-b785-94a558a5dfb8-Image10.jpg\" width=\"648\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Alan Castillo was at the park during the incident.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Three guys were coming down the river on a tube, and had fallen off. One of the guys went under the water, came back up, and went back down again. All I saw was his hand after that,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Castillo said he saw one of the men grab onto a tree to stay on land. He said that they would never swim in the river due to the danger.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You always hear about it. To happen in front of me is crazy,&#8221; he said.  Castillo mentioned that no one among at least a dozen people in the water was wearing a life vest.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"365\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/d750f98e-f1ee-42e4-8305-97d3984e45f1-Image5.jpg\" width=\"648\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Calls to the Kern County Sheriff\u2019s Office were not immediately returned.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"365\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/f8c2d1da-7fc6-4c43-b719-f22375b0c675-Image8.jpg\" width=\"648\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This story is developing and will be updated once more information is provided.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
