{"id":402298,"date":"2026-07-17T14:59:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-17T14:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/402298\/"},"modified":"2026-07-17T14:59:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-17T14:59:17","slug":"sacramento-restaurant-cited-for-roaches-and-rodent-droppings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/402298\/","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento restaurant cited for roaches and rodent droppings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento County Health Inspectors closed a Vietnamese restaurant after finding dozens of German cockroaches in various stages of life.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, health inspectors cited four eateries for violations including moldy bell peppers and rodent droppings.<\/p>\n<p>What do these inspections mean?<\/p>\n<p>While a yellow placard signals two or more major violations, these are typically corrected or mitigated during the inspection, according to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saccounty.gov\/#gsc.tab=0\">Sacramento County Retail Food Inspection Guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A red placard, however, signals \u201cimminent danger to public health and safety\u201d and suspends an establishment\u2019s health permit until violations are corrected. This could include, but is not limited to, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sacbee.com\/news\/local\/article288124385.html\">major vermin contamination<\/a>. In contrast, a green placard means a restaurant passed inspection.<\/p>\n<p>The county performs about 14,000 inspections annually and about 97% of establishments pass, spokesman Ken Casparis previously told The Sacramento Bee.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 1% of inspections result in a closure, he said.<\/p>\n<p>These were the results of Sacramento County food facility inspections for Thursday, July 9, through Wednesday, July 15, as of Thursday, July 16. If an inspection listed below needs clarification, business owners can email The Sacramento Bee at <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/servicejournalists@sacbee.com\/\">servicejournalists@sacbee.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>How to report a business to the health department<\/p>\n<p>For readers who would like to report a local restaurant, food truck or caf\u00e9 on health violations, they can do so by filing a complaint to the facility\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdph.ca.gov\/Programs\/CEH\/DFDCS\/CDPH%20Document%20Library\/FDB\/FoodSafetyProgram\/RetailFood\/LocalEHContacts.pdf\">local environmental health departments.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The local health department is responsible for the initial investigation of consumer complaints regarding foods served or sold at retail food facilities, according to the California Department of Public Health.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses temporarily closed by health inspectors<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/inspections.myhealthdepartment.com\/sacramento\/print\/?task=getPrintable&amp;path=sacramento&amp;pKey=C6F94525-FD9F-4E75-ACB2-24C330AFBFEC,C6F94525-FD9F-4E75-ACB2-24C330AFBFEC\">Pho Bac Hoa Viet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>6645 Stockton Blvd., Suite 300, Sacramento<\/p>\n<p>Number of violations: 6<\/p>\n<p>Date: Wednesday, July 15<\/p>\n<p>Sacramento County Health Inspectors gave a red placard to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/phobac.menu\/\">Clayton Wire Vietnamese restaurant<\/a> after finding 51 German cockroaches in various stages of life throughout the facility including under the hand sink, by the ice machine and on the counter by the upright cooler.Beef bones were measured above proper cold holding temperature.The metal shelving across from the ice machines had sticky accumulation.Sauces were stored on a rack under a bag of recycling waste.<\/p>\n<p>Pho Bac Hoa Viet has yet to be reinspected as of Thursday, July 16.<\/p>\n<p>The Bee reached out to the restaurant but no manager was onsite.<\/p>\n<p>Dirty dishes, moldy bell peppers and rodent droppings were found at these dining locations<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/inspections.myhealthdepartment.com\/sacramento\/print\/?task=getPrintable&amp;path=sacramento&amp;pKey=C13AF921-10FF-46D9-945F-AE027653E392,C13AF921-10FF-46D9-945F-AE027653E392\">Scott\u2019s Seafood Grill &amp; Bar<\/a><\/p>\n<p>4800 Riverside Blvd., Suite B, Sacramento<\/p>\n<p>Number of violations: 17<\/p>\n<p>Date: Thursday, July 9<\/p>\n<p>Sacramento County Health Inspectors cited the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottsseafoodontheriver.com\/\">Greenhaven seafood restaurant<\/a> after discovering raw filet mignon inside reduced oxygen packaging without proper date and time label.Approximately 20 rodent droppings were found in the lower storage area.Shellfish tag could not be located for one container of oysters.14 expired Food Handler cards on siteA non-food-grade container (Lowe\u2019s paint bucket) was being used for ice.<\/p>\n<p>Scott\u2019s Seafood Grill &amp;
