Data comes from the Federal Election Commission, measured for a six-week period as opposed to the traditional quarterly reports.

David Valadao, R-Hanford — running for his seventh term — reported $694,188 for the period. He maintains larger hauls for the entire election cycle and has more cash on hand.

Experts expect Valadao vs. Villegas to be one of the closest races in the nation.

Both congressional Republican and Democratic Party fundraising wings are focusing on the race, which includes Bakersfield, Visalia, and the northwest section of the city of Fresno.
