In a major move to modernize<\/a> state transit networks, California<\/a> has announced nearly $2.5 billion in new funding to upgrade California\u2019s highway systems, expand public transit<\/a>, and stimulate the economy. Guided by the administration\u2019s \u201cBuild More, Faster \u2014 For All\u201d agenda, this allocation will support more than 150 projects designed to improve California transit, increase community connectivity, and create thousands of jobs.<\/p>\n

The historic funding package targets critical safety, highway<\/a>, and pedestrian projects across several California counties. Notable investments include:<\/p>\n

Southwest Los Angeles County Mobility Hubs ($257 Million): Designed to improve connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders, and highway commuters. This project serves as a vital infrastructure upgrade ahead of the major global crowds expected for the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Whiskey Creek Bridge Renovation ($99 Million): Replaces the historic but aging bridge structure on State Route 299 in Shasta County to ensure long-term regional transit safety.<\/p>\n

Interstate 215 Revitalization ($64 Million): Rehabilitates pavement and modernizes crucial safety elements along a nine-mile stretch of Interstate 215 in Riverside County.<\/p>\n

State Route 156 Interchange ($60 Million): Funds the construction of a new, highly anticipated interchange at Castroville Boulevard in Monterey County to ease traffic flow.<\/p>\n

Milpas Street Pedestrian Upgrades ($6.7 Million): Establishes high-visibility crosswalks and safety lighting along one of Santa Barbara\u2019s most hazardous corridors.<\/p>\n

Active Transportation Enhancements: Includes $727,000 to close critical trail gaps on the Joe Rodota Bike Trail in Santa Rosa and $518,000 for signals, bikeways, and pedestrian crossings on Marysville Boulevard in Sacramento.<\/p>\n

According to California Transportation Secretary Toks Omishakin, these bold infrastructure investments are prioritized to deliver direct benefits to all Californians, strengthening both community connections and local economies.
