\nCalifornia Attorney General Rob Bonta and California Energy Commission
\n(CEC) Chair David Hochschild have issued a notice of intent to file a second
\nlawsuit against the Trump administration in relation to offshore wind lease
\nbuyouts.
\n

\nThe proposed lawsuit concerns an agreement between the U.S. Department
\nof the Interior and Invenergy, under which Invenergy received $765 million
\nto terminate four offshore wind leases, including the Morro Bay Wind Energy
\nArea.
\n

\n\u201cOffshore wind isn\u2019t just about domestic, clean energy \u2014 it\u2019s about
\ncreating the good-paying jobs and industries of the future,\u201d said California
\nEnergy Commission Chair David Hochschild.

\n

\nCalifornia officials argue that the agreement has damaged the state’s offshore
\nwind development potential. The state aims to develop 25 GW of offshore
\nwind capacity by 2045, enough to power approximately 25 million homes.
