BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A man died after being struck by several vehicles on Highway 99 early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
The California Highway Patrol said on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at around 1:48 a.m., officers were called to southbound Highway 99, south of White Lane, for reports of a traffic crash involving multiple vehicles and a pedestrian.<\/p>\n
According to CHP, a preliminary investigation found that an unidentified man went into southbound Highway 99 from the shoulder, directly in the path of an unknown vehicle.<\/p>\n
The unknown vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing severe injuries. CHP said the pedestrian was subsequently struck by multiple other vehicles, sustaining additional injuries.<\/p>\n
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Multiple drivers remained on scene and were cooperative with investigators.<\/p>\n
CHP said there are potentially other vehicles involved that drove away from the scene and further investigation is still being conducted.<\/p>\n
CHP said at this time, it is unknown if alcohol and\/or drugs were a factor in this crash.<\/p>\n
