The leafy inner-city enclave of Hancock Park was home to the priciest residential contract in Los Angeles County last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The mansion at 344 South Hudson Avenue which has a $16.5 million asking price topped all other homes that went into contract \u2014 based on a report compiled by Marcy Roth of Douglas Elliman\u2019s Eklund Gomes team. The Eklund Weekly Luxury Report Los Angeles<\/a> rounds up single-family homes and condominiums listed in the Multiple Listing Service for $4 million or more and lists the top contracts based on asking price.<\/p>\n

The nearly 8,500-square-foot home hit the market less than a month before finding a buyer \u2014 though as of Monday, the deal was still pending. Roth called this \u201ca reminder that while today\u2019s luxury buyers are highly selective, well-priced properties continue to move quickly.\u201d It last sold in 2015 for $8.6 million, and its current asking price shakes out to $1,959 per square foot.<\/p>\n

Aaron Kirman of Christie\u2019s International Real Estate Southern California<\/a> and Sotheby\u2019s International Realty\u2019s Neyshia Go are both listed as the agents.<\/p>\n

The 1926-built home has five bedrooms and features amenities such as tennis court, guest house, library, piano lounge, chef\u2019s kitchen, koi pond, putting green, movie theater, pool and spa.<\/p>\n

The Hudson Avenue property was one of 23 signed luxury contracts last week for a total asking volume of $150.3 million. It was a quieter week in terms of asking volume than the week prior which saw $169 million among 19 contracts. Compared to the same week last year, however, contract volume increased by about 15 percent, Roth said.<\/p>\n

The second priciest home that went into contract last week was at 6110 Merritt Drive in Malibu<\/a>. Asking just shy of $10 million, the more than 10,000-square-foot mansion has been on and off the market for close to two years, first asking $21.5 million in November 2024, before taking several price cuts. It\u2019s also alternatively listed for rent for $60,000 per month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Compass\u2019 Christopher Cortazzo holds the listing for the five-bedroom home which includes a theater, wine cellar, wet bar, a sports court, pool and jacuzzi.<\/p>\n
