{"id":406210,"date":"2026-07-21T05:33:23","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T05:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/406210\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T05:33:23","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T05:33:23","slug":"county-parks-offering-free-summer-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/406210\/","title":{"rendered":"County parks offering free summer programs\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>News\u00a0release\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Los\u00a0Angeles\u00a0County\u00a0Department\u00a0of\u00a0Parks\u00a0and\u00a0Recreation\u00a0is\u00a0offering\u00a0multiple free\u00a0events and activities\u00a0this summer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are a variety of new,\u00a0free\u00a0and low-cost programs for youth and families, ranging from sports clinics and nature\u00a0exploration\u00a0programs\u00a0to\u00a0aquatics\u00a0and\u00a0overnight\u00a0camping\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0park, said a news release from\u00a0L.A.\u00a0County\u00a0Parks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re\u00a0excited\u00a0to\u00a0be\u00a0able\u00a0to\u00a0offer\u00a0so\u00a0much\u00a0great\u00a0recreational\u00a0opportunities\u00a0this\u00a0summer,\u00a0for\u00a0youth,\u00a0seniors, and families to learn new skills, swim, make friends, attend a concert, and explore L.A.\u00a0County\u2019s incredible parks,\u00a0trails,\u00a0and nature centers,\u201d\u00a0L.A.\u00a0County Parks Director\u00a0Norma E. Garc\u00eda-Gonz\u00e1lez\u00a0said in the release.\u00a0\u201cWe\u00a0invite\u00a0everyone\u00a0to\u00a0discover\u00a0all\u00a0the\u00a0possibilities\u00a0that\u00a0L.A.\u00a0County\u00a0Parks\u00a0has\u00a0to\u00a0offer\u00a0this\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Summer.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0release provided the following summaries of\u00a0summer\u00a0programs\u00a0and\u00a0opportunities:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Summer lunch and snack program:\u00a0Through\u00a0Aug.\u00a07, children and youth ages 18 and\u00a0under\u00a0receive\u00a0a\u00a0nutritious\u00a0lunch\u00a0and\u00a0snack\u00a0that\u00a0include\u00a0vegetables,\u00a0fruits,\u00a0seeds\u00a0and\u00a0healthy\u00a0dairy\u00a0products like milk, string\u00a0cheese\u00a0and yogurt, at 49 L.A.\u00a0County Parks and 20 L.A.\u00a0County Libraries. Youth meals will be available for\u00a0dine-in\u00a0only at designated indoor areas. Through hands-on projects, field trips,\u00a0and\u00a0teamwork, campers explore\u00a0new ideas, build confidence, and discover how learning can shape their\u00a0world.\u00a0For\u00a0program\u00a0and\u00a0registration\u00a0information,\u00a0contact\u00a0your\u00a0local\u00a0county\u00a0park:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/parks.lacounty.gov\/esteam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">parks.lacounty.gov\/esteam.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Every Body Plays Summer Adventures:\u00a0Every Body Plays is a positive space with a curriculum that\u00a0is youth-centered and designed for fun.\u00a0This\u00a0free\u00a0drop-in program\u00a0runs until Aug.\u00a07.\u00a0Children can enjoy\u00a0lunch and snacks at\u00a0the park with their\u00a0friends and\u00a0family before joining\u00a0the\u00a0fun\u00a0at\u00a0select\u00a0parks.\u00a0The\u00a0program\u00a0provides\u00a0children\u00a0ages\u00a07\u00a0through\u00a017\u00a0with\u00a0access\u00a0to\u00a0caring and\u00a0trained\u00a0park\u00a0staff\u00a0who\u00a0serve\u00a0as\u00a0mentors\u00a0who\u00a0lead\u00a0programs\u00a0and\u00a0activities.\u00a0These\u00a0activities include sports,\u00a0fitness,\u00a0arts\u00a0and\u00a0crafts,\u00a0ESTEAM,\u00a0performing\u00a0arts\u00a0and\u00a0more.\u00a0For\u00a0more\u00a0information,\u00a0visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/parks.lacounty.gov\/everybody-plays-summer-adventures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">parks.lacounty.gov\/everybody-plays-summer-adventures<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2022\u00a0Overnight Camping:\u00a0The\u00a0Overnight\u00a0Family\u00a0Camping\u00a0program\u00a0is\u00a0designed\u00a0to\u00a0give\u00a0families\u00a0a\u00a0safe,\u00a0fun\u00a0and\u00a0low-cost\u00a0way\u00a0to\u00a0experience\u00a0camping\u00a0without\u00a0the\u00a0hassle\u00a0of\u00a0planning\u00a0everything\u00a0themselves. From now until Aug.\u00a028, at five Regional Parks across Los Angeles County, the camps include guided activities such\u00a0as night hikes, stargazing sessions,\u00a0campfire gatherings\u00a0with s\u2019mores, and fishing. General admission is $15,\u00a0kids 13 years old and under are\u00a0free.
