Attorneys for the mother of a 6-year-old girl who was allegedly raped last year at a Mather child care center filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court against the alleged attacker and the center, seeking unspecified damages.<\/p>\n
The July 15 suit against Mather Childcare Center was filed nearly a year after the August 2025 arrest of then 26-year-old Gokhan Bagci by Sacramento County sheriff\u2019s child abuse detectives<\/a>. Bagci worked at the Graeton Circle facility owned by his uncle that largely served the area\u2019s Turkish immigrant community, said sheriff\u2019s officials.<\/p>\n The 11-page civil complaint alleges Bagci\u2019s uncle and center owner Musa Bagci \u201ccreated and tolerated the conditions that made this abuse possible.\u201d<\/p>\n Gokhan Bagci was hired at the center without a background check, the suit alleged. He was later allowed to be alone and out of sight with children while Musa Bagci slept or worked on a computer.<\/p>\n The complaint seeks unspecified damages for sexual battery, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent hiring and supervision, and failure to report child abuse.<\/p>\n The young victim\u2019s mother reported the alleged abuse in July 2025 sparking the investigation that led to Bagci\u2019s August arrest on suspicion of four felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age. Investigators also suspected that there may have been more victims including \u201ccurrent and former victims of the day care,\u201d the Sheriff\u2019s Office said in a statement following Bagci\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n Bagci remains held in Sacramento County custody in lieu of $200,000 bail on the abuse allegations. He next faces a July 31 hearing in Sacramento Superior Court.<\/p>\n The civil complaint accuses Bagci of luring the child into a closet at the center in July 2025 under the guise of playing hide-and-seek. There, the suit alleges, Bagci touched the child\u2019s genitalia and rubbed against her so forcefully that the child was left with severe bruises.<\/p>\n The suit alleged later that day Bagci brought the girl into a bathroom where he raped her.<\/p>\n \u201cThe conduct of Bagci in sexually molesting and raping a six-year-old child entrusted to his care was extreme and outrageous, exceeding all bounds of decency tolerated in a civilized community,\u201d attorneys said in the lawsuit.<\/p>\n The suit alleges the child was severely bruised in the attack and suffered \u201csevere pain, fear, and emotional trauma.\u201d<\/p>\n The child told her mother the following day that \u201cshe did not want to go to school the next day and asked her mother to make sure Bagci did not hurt her again.\u201d The child told her parents of the abuse, and they called authorities, according to the suit.<\/p>\n Bagci also was removed from the country twice by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. He was first removed in November 2023; and again in September 2024, nearly a year before his arrest.<\/p>\n Had Musa Bagci and Mather Childcare Center performed a background check before allowing Bagci to care for children, and properly supervised him, the suit alleged, \u201cthe abuse could and would have been prevented.\u201d<\/p>\n
