{"id":407058,"date":"2026-07-21T21:26:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T21:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/407058\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T21:26:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T21:26:08","slug":"hhs-to-defer-1-billion-in-medicaid-payments-to-california-minnesota","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/407058\/","title":{"rendered":"HHS to Defer $1 Billion in Medicaid Payments to California, Minnesota"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bHHS recently\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/press-room\/hhs-defers-medicaid-payments-california-minnesota-fraud-review.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" data-feathr-click-track=\"true\" data-feathr-link-aids=\"60b7cbf17788425491b2d083\" style=\"font-size:11pt;\">announced<\/a>\u202fdeferring more than $1 billion in Medicaid payments to California and Minnesota, pending receipt and review of documentation these states have been required to submit, to address allegations of fraud in certain Medicaid claims.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While AHCA\/NCAL supports CMS\u2019 stated goal to combat fraud, waste, and abuse, effective program integrity depends not only on strong enforcement authorities, but also on targeted, risk-based policies that distinguish intentional misconduct from inadvertent administrative errors.
