A fire tore through a former firehouse Tuesday evening in Oakland\u2019s Montclair neighborhood, causing significant damage to the long-shuttered building\u2019s attic, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The blaze was reported at\u00a08:18 p.m.\u00a0at\u00a06271 Moraga Ave., the former location of Oakland Fire Department\u2019s Station 24 near\u00a0Montclair Park, according to\u00a0Michael Hunt, a spokesman for the agency. About two-dozen firefighters managed to bring the flames under control within a half-hour, he said.<\/p>\n
The fire department left the building more than three decades ago amid concerns about its structural integrity, Hunt said. Station 24 was later relocated to the base of\u00a0Shepherd Canyon Park.<\/p>\n
A cause for the blaze remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
