BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 California Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on Highway 99 that left a passenger with major injuries and led to a driver’s arrest.<\/p>\n
CHP says officers responded to a crash on Highway 99 between a Dodge pickup truck and a freightliner on Monday, July 20, at 3:49 p.m. <\/p>\n
Officers say the Dodge truck was headed southbound on Highway 99 while towing a utility trailer.<\/p>\n
The freightliner was parked on the west shoulder when the Dodge veered into the shoulder and struck it.<\/p>\n
The Dodge was wedged under the freightliner, trapping the passenger inside.<\/p>\n
Emergency personal removed the passenger and took them to a local hospital with major injuries.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Dodge was arrested for felony D.U.I. and taken to a hospital for medical clearance.<\/p>\n
They were then booked into the Kern County Jail.<\/p>\n
No one inside the freightliner was injured.<\/p>\n
