(FOX40.COM) \u2014 Four Sacramento men were indicted for distributing cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of California announced Friday.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, an undercover agent was used to catch the men who were indicted. The men sold controlled substances to the undercover agent as well as a confidential source a combined eight times.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Balentin Quintero, 27; Francisco Chavez, 39; Steven Ortega, 44; and Tavarius Montgomery, 41, were all indicted on charges of distribution of controlled substances. Ortega was also charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm after being found to be in possession of multiple firearms on July 14, the district attorney said.<\/p>\n
If Chavez is convicted of distribution of methamphetamine, he will face a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, as well a fine up to $10 million. If he’s convicted of distribution of fentanyl, he faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $5 million.<\/p>\n
Ortega faces a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million if convicted of distribution of fentanyl, and a maximum statutory penalty of 15 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000 if convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.<\/p>\n
Quintero and Montgomery will both face a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $5 million if they are convicted of distribution of fentanyl, the district attorney said.<\/p>\n
