(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A very slow-to-change weather pattern is with us for the time being across Kern County.<\/p>\n<p>The good news, if you&#8217;re not the biggest fan of the extreme heat, is that South Valley highs could be right around average this weekend. Meanwhile, the sizzling conditions continue across the desert, where an Extreme Heat Warning is in effect.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"365\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/d36e6480-7a7d-48b8-8368-08f57b6e8d85-outlook.png\" width=\"648\"\/><\/p>\n<p>High pressure at the upper levels of the atmosphere continues between the Great Plains and California. This is a recipe for heat, and that heat shows no signs of buckling anytime soon. However, the placement of that high has not been allowing much, if any, monsoonal moisture and instability to work into our part of the country.
