He began skating at just 13 months old and, by age 5, had already set his sights on the Olympics, eventually competing in pair skating and winning a silver medal at the 2014 Sochi Games.<\/p>\n
But just weeks before what\u00a0Moscovitch hoped would be his final Olympic run, a 200-pound mirrored door crashed onto him, leaving him with a concussion, a severe hand injury and a dream that would soon be out of reach.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a really painful moment… it felt like dying,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The loss forced Moscovitch to confront a question that can be especially difficult for elite athletes: Who are you when the thing that defined you is gone? His search for an answer took him far beyond the familiar world of competition and into the Amazon, Peru and Costa Rica, where he immersed himself in Indigenous traditions and studied the relationship between healing, nature and truth.<\/p>\n
What began as an existential crisis became what he now describes as a new Olympic journey; one centered not on medals, but on becoming a better, more authentic human being. \u201cAnd what that gave me was what does it look like to become an Olympic human? a good human being, being of service to others?\u201d<\/p>\n
Today, Moscovitch draws on those experiences to help others facing their own thresholds: the moments when an old identity no longer fits and the next chapter has yet to emerge. Through his Threshold method, his work with men and transformational programs in Costa Rica, he encourages people to move toward discomfort rather than run from it, reconnect with their inner truth and discover what may be waiting on the other side of loss.<\/p>\n
For a man whose life was once defined by the pursuit of Olympic gold, his greatest accomplishment may now be helping others find their way back to themselves.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so grateful that I was able to listen to enough redirections to arrive at a place where I started running towards my life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
