(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 The weekend that was featured afternoon highs right at average for Bakersfield, however, the heat was on across the desert. Saturday saw highs from 100 to 111. Sunday was a tad cooler with some mid to high level clouds streaming in from the south.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead to a brand new week the warmth prevails for the South Valley for the next couple days, with higher temperatures in the desert, where an Extreme Heat Warning continues until 9 p.m. on Monday night.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"KBAK\/KBFX\" class=\"ImageEmbed_image__qZBo_\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"365\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/a10c7868-4fc6-47a5-8360-50ee787b4bca-WatchingNext3LineIN.png\" width=\"648\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A reconfiguration of the high pressure system will likely lead to a more significant buildup of heat later on this week, with a serious sizzle areawide likely heading into the upcoming weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The placement of this high, much like its predecessors so far this season, doesn&#8217;t appear to allow for much, if any, monsoonal energy into our area.
