President Donald Trump will be in Oakland County on Monday to promote his economic plan, including the latest round of tariffs he plans to enact against U.S. trade partners.<\/p>\n
Trump is expected to pay a visit to the GM Proving Ground in Milford, one of the nation\u2019s most expansive testing sites for new vehicle models.<\/p>\n
His visit will also align with the official grand opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge, Detroit\u2019s second bridge crossing connected to Windsor, which has been under construction since 2018.<\/a><\/p>\n At an opening ceremony and ribbon cutting held on the Windsor side of the bridge Friday, U.S. officials and dignitaries were noticeably absent \u2014 as ongoing tensions between the two countries over tariffs compelled Canadian officials to celebrate the milestone alone.<\/p>\n Still, that didn\u2019t keep President Donald Trump from chiming in about the event on social media.<\/p>\n \u201cCanada disinvited the United States of America to the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge, which is fine, considering they are paying substantial TARIFFS to the United States, but the original Deal on the Bridge, which was terribly negotiated by a previous Administration, no longer stands,\u201d Trump posted to Truth Social on Friday. \u201cWe changed the terms of the Deal so that the United States of America now gets 50% of the Profit. Haley Stevens — who recently received an endorsement<\/a> from Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers is running unopposed in the primary.<\/p>\n In the governor\u2019s race, Trump has endorsed Congressman John James (R-Shelby Township), who\u2019s facing Republican businessman Perry Johnson.
